Fly Me to the Moon

2004, 5'00", colour, mono

Fly Me to the Moon is comprised of a series of stills shot with a digital photo camera which were subsequently animated with a computer. The sound is the first few seconds of Frank Sinatra's famous song, the part before he starts singing, which, along with the images, is repeated over and over. The effect is intended to be at once annoying and hypnotic. This work is an attempt at putting the viewer into a state of distraction in which her mind may wander or even 'fly' to the moon.
